Does laser vision correction hurt?
No, you won't feel anything. Before the procedure our nurse puts local anesthesia is your eyes in the form of eye drops.
How does the procedure look like?
Before the procedure you will have your consultations with our doctor and you will also be examined. After the examination the surgery will take place. Surgery is very short, not painful at all and lasts for only about 15 minutes for both eyes. First our nurse gives you medications in form of eye drops. Afterwards, doctor removes a little part of epithelium which is the surface layer of the eye that protects the eye from external influences. After the epithelium is removed, the laser beam remodels your cornea and therefore, removes the diopter. The therapeutic lens in then placed in the eye.
Can I see perfectly right after the procedure?
Right after the procedure your vision will be better than before. One to two hours after the procedure your visual acuity will drop and you vision will worsen. The reason for that is because the surface of your eye (epithelium) ain't smooth surface anymore. Your visual acuity will be improving as the epithelium is healing and becomes smooth. It usually takes one to two weeks for visual acuity to go up to 100%, depending on the healing ability of your eye and the method you choose.

THE NO CUT METHOD
The NO CUT method belongs to the advanced methods of surface operations. The advantages are that the corneal epithelium is removed with special microsurgical brushes instead of alcohol. In this way, the chemical effect of alcohol on the underlying tissue is avoided and, in our experience, the procedure is about 20% more precise than other methods. Furthermore, during the procedure, the eye pressure is unchanged, while with LASIK and PRK methods, the eye pressure rises up to 4 times higher than normal (15 mmHg). Although rare, this short-term increase in eye pressure can cause unwanted complications such as retinal detachment. An additional advantage is that the edges of the epithelium are flatter, so healing is more regular and faster, and postoperative discomfort is less and lasts less.
According to the latest research conducted in our polyclinic, where one eye was treated with the PRK method and the other with the NO CUT method, we came to the result that the occurrence of haze or turbidity in the cornea is even 50% lower with the NO CUT method. Please note that the Knezovic Eye Institute is the only medical institution in the region that owns the Pallikaris microsurgical brush for performing the NO CUT method.
This method has numerous advantages over the LASIK method, because it does not weaken the corneal tissue, does not damage the tear film, does not create "high-order aberrations" or "exotic" diopters. Unlike the PRK method, alcohol is not used during the procedure, thus avoiding chemical damage to the underlying tissue. Also, there is no mechanical pressure on the cornea, which reduces potential risks during procedures for a short-term increase in eye pressure, such as retinal ablation.
According to the latest research, this method also has a lower incidence of "haze" (cloudiness in the corneal tissue that reduces visual acuity), which is one of the most common side effects of the PRK method. After the procedure, it is not possible to see that the operation was ever done, that is, the eye looks "untouched".
